Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4
Which will be declared best?
By Corey Van Wye
For years now, there has been a huge debate between these two consoles, mainly concerning which is better. In 2005 Microsoft introduced the Xbox 360; it became one of the greatest consoles of that generation, soon after in 2006 Sony enterprises introduced the PlayStation 3, another great console of that generation.
Now, it is almost 10 years later and the latest and greatest gaming consoles have now been out for a little over a year. Many people have already been saying that the PS4 has won this battle of the consoles, but just to really know which is better; I’m going to show you some of the good qualities each console has.
The Xbox one
· Created by one of the best corporations out there : Microsoft
· It has an all new custom AMD 8 core processor
· 8gb of DDR3 RAM
· And displays that feature: 720p, 1080p, and even 4K resolutions.
· One of the newest features is the modified and reformed Xbox Kinect.
The best part is these are just a few of the qualities that the Xbox One has to offer.
Next, I am going to show some of the amazing qualities that the Ps4 has.
The PlayStation 4
· Created by the famous Sony Enterprises
· Has a semi-custom AMD 8 core processor
· 8gb of DDR5 RAM
· 500gb of hard drive storage
· Semi-custom AMD GCN Radeon graphics
These are the best new consoles on the market and I firmly believe that the battle of the best will continue between these two great companies.

Dr. Chalker is bringing back the regular dress code. No more hoodies in class or at all. They have never really allowed hats, but kids wore them anyway. Now that it’s warmer, we don’t have an excuse to wear them. All kids want to do is be defiant. The only reason you find an amusement in wearing hoodies is because the teachers say not to. Sure, they can be “comfy” but how comfortable do you have to be? Honestly, I burn up in this place. I’m burning up now and I’m wearing a short-sleeved polo.
Is it for style? You come here two days a week. You can follow simple directions for two days. And surprisingly enough, we have to be reminded to take hats and hoods off like a bunch of small children. Many of the kids here act like a bunch of elementary schoolers. What’s with the scarf being flushed down the toilet? All I’m saying is that you guys could grow up a little more.

The Most Famous Photograph
in the World
by Ahmed Mohammed
Most pictures have a story behind them. Back in 1984 photographer Steve McCurry’s photo “The Afghan Girl” was published. He snapped the picture of the girl with sea green eyes and could feel the pain she had been through during Afghan and Russian war. Just by looking at the fierceness in her eyes, nose, lips, and eyebrows, you can tell that there is a story behind this face. McCurry talks about her in the June of 1985’s issue of National Geographic. She was twelve in this photo, and she looks rather angry or fierce. She is from Afghanistan but had taken refuge in Peshawar Pakistan. They were always on guard and she wasn’t happy for the majority of her youth because she was moved from camp to camp as a refugee seeking protection from the Soviets. Her parents were killed when she was six. Since people were always after them she developed caution in her demeanor. But you can see all this and her story just by looking at this photo. Famous photos tell a story.
Bad habits we do everyday
by Levi Cochard
Everyday we do small, and inferior bad habits we believe don't affect us in anyway possible, however there are some bad habits we do that can affect our health and can lead to many serious conditions in the near future of our lives. One bad habit a lot of us do is pick our noses. It's pretty gross but did you know you can catch the flu by picking your nose? Studies show an increase of about 40% of catching the flu when picking your nose, that's insane!
Another bad habit we do everyday is skip breakfast. While a lot of us are too busy, or just aren't hungry, it can lead to a lot of problems. One of them is screwing up your eating order. If you tend to skip breakfast often and get overly hungry at lunch time, you may overeat, therefore leading to weight gain, which can be very bad for you when you become older.
Another bad habit we have is putting ourselves down, such as saying things like “I'm so lonely.” While many can argue it does nothing, it affects your personal, and mental health. Many things such as your immune system, will work less efficient from being depressed, or simply being angry all the time. Scientists say a healthy mind is the key to a healthy life, so the same applies when it comes to our lives: keep a fresh mind, and your life in turn will be much better in the long run.

Love Can
Love can make you,
Love can break you,
Love can put you in a trance,
Protect you from circumstance,
And it can heal you.
But when you give away your heart,
Some people just tear it apart,
And leave you bleeding.
From one day to another,
You try to keep it all together,
But it’s hard.
And then you find that single person,
Who won’t let your fear worsen,
And they’re with you for the rest of your life.
And when you are together,
It feels like your hearts are tethered,
And the whole future seems bright.
There is a Person
There is a person that I know,
A person who loves unconditionally,
There is a person that I know,
Who always thinks I’m beautiful,
And tells me so.
There is a person that I know,
A person who always forgives me.
There is a person that I know,
Who stands by me through everything.
There is a person that I know,
A person who is goofy, and silly, and loud.
There is a person that I know,
Who will only cry alone.
There is a person that I know,
Who is strong, yet weak, you’ll see.
There is a person that I know,
Who has a scarred heart and hopeful eyes.
There is a person that I know,
A person I call Mom.
Love can make you,
Love can break you,
Love can put you in a trance,
Protect you from circumstance,

Teen Driving
By Haley Smith
Teen driving has many points
against it. Some say the drving age should even be raised. In my opinion,
accidents will happen either way.
Instead of raising the driving
age, we should make small little game-like reminders. For example, the Red
Thumb Challenge.
Take a red pen, marker, or piece
of red tape and put it on your thumb or mark your thumb. Every time you go to
text, you’ll see the red on your thumb and remember not to.
Challenges such as this are fun
and serve their purpose.
Bad Driving Habits
by Levi Cochard
We all know about bad driving habits, don't drive and text, don't eat while driving, as they can lead to poor performance behind the wheel, and taking your eyes off of the road. But did you know that there are other bad habits we do while driving, and that their incredibly easy to avoid? I'm not talking about day dreaming behind the wheel, or texting and driving, rather small seeming things we do while driving that can lead to bad accidents, or the cost of tons of fuel.
The first bad habit we always tend to do is riding the brakes down a steep incline. Now we all feel the need to smash down on the brakes going down a hill, I mean it's very intense, and feels wrong about 100% of the time if you don't brake while going down a hill, but the truth is its bad for you and your car if you brake going down a hill. By braking down a hill, which boils your brake fluid, causing your breaks to fail when you really need to use them. Another mistake we always make during the winter time is letting our car idle to heat up. It seems smart, nobody wants to drive in sub zero conditions in a freezing cold car! But this is harmful to your car, as it goes through a tremendous amount of water and gas, and tears up the engine more than it normally would from years of driving it. It also warms up slower than it would if you were driving it.
In the end, there are a lot of small habits we normally do while driving a car, and while some are more detrimental than others, at the end of the day they all revolve around the safety of the driver, and the other drivers. And by avoiding these mistakes many people make while driving, you'll not only be safer while driving, but also save a couple bucks to use on gasoline, or for your own personal life rather than car repairs!

- What to do if Your Pet Gets Lost
By Victoria Stader
It’s easy to lose a pet. Leaving a gate open or letting your pet out without a leash are a couple of ways to lose them.
1. Let others know your pet is missing. Don’t wait to see if he or she comes back. Spread word fast. Make lots of posters with your pet’s pic on them.
2. Place a lost ad in your newspaper ASAP. Sometimes these ads are free.
3. Call people to get the word out: neighbors, friends, and family.
4. Go out and call your pet’s name. Ask friends and family to help.
5. Call veterinary hospitals. Call all animal shelters, animal control, and dog control officers.
6. Check all local dog pounds and animal shelters. Actually look for yourself in the place at dog pounds.
7. Never stop looking.
One time, I almost lost my oldest dog, Princess. When we left the front gate open, she ran out and got two blocks away. We ran to get her and finally she came to a neighbor and the neighbor gave her to us.
Don't Be Dumb: Vaccines
By Al Bailey
While there has never been any evidence to support it, many parents choose not to vaccinate their children against the measles, mumps, and rubella because of the fear that it may give them autism. This is irresponsible and endangers not only the child but everyone around them, by willingly risking the chance of contracting a disease like measles they prevent such diseases from being eliminated.
The idea that the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine or MMR vaccine causes autism was first publicized in 1998 when Andrew Wakefield published a fraudulent paper in The Lancet claiming that his team had found a link between the MMR vaccine and autism after observing a test group of twelve children, eight of which had supposedly begun displaying signs of autism after receiving the vaccine. But in 2001 a paper titled “No evidence for a new variant of measles-mumps-rubella-induced autism” which used a test group of 96 children found no connection between the two.
One of the main advocates of this theory is actress Jenny McCarthy who claims that her son's alleged autism (the seizures which led to his diagnosis are a symptom of Landau-Kleffner syndrome-a condition often misdiagnosed as autism) was caused by a vaccine. I feel that it is also important point out that before her son was diagnosed she claimed that she was an “indigo mother” and that her son was a crystal child. In my opinion, this shows the main causes for the willingness to believe this theory: narcissism, delusion, the refusal accept their child's disability as unpreventable and the need to blame something for this unpreventable event.

Book or Movie?
By Hannah Cochard
I don’t know about you, but I prefer to read the book before the movie. Even though I don’t expect the movie to be exactly like the book, I like it to be pretty close. One example for me would be The Hunger Games. I found that the producers of The Hunger Games did a good job of being true to the book. I understand that sometimes it’s hard or too expensive for a movie to portray everything that is spoken of in the book. With what they were given they should try and make the movie as close to the book as possible. And I feel like the directors and producers of The Hunger Games are a pretty good example of movies that are almost exactly like the book.

Aesop rock – Cat food review
By Al Bailey
After a relatively quiet 2014 underground wordsmith Aesop Rock returned earlier this month with a two track EP entitled “Cat Food.” The eponymous first track was produced by long time collaborator Blockhead and is reminiscent of his production on Aesop's first album “Labor Days.” The second track Bug Zapper was produced by Aesop him self and is heavily influenced by producers like EL-P and Blockhead.
At first glance the verses appear to be nonsensical and held together with vague word association and rhymes that shouldn’t work but do. Each line is a carefully constructed piece of a whole that manages to provide a definite overarching theme while still allowing for the listen to find their own meanings.
The only flaw of this EP is how similar it is to Aesop's back catalog. It's slower and more methodical but could be from any of his previous projects. Other than that it is some of Aesop's best work since “None Shall Pass."

Dress Code Abolishment: Why it Needs To Happen.
By Gabriel Cochard
During our education at Hoosier Academies, we have all been forced to conform to one thing: dress code. The dress code was established to insure students dressed appropriately, but have you really thought of what the school is asking of us? Well just look at the big picture: we all go to school in jeans and a collared shirt. When one does not comply to the dress code, they receive punishment from the school. So why is this a problem?
Well dressing in your clothes without rules allows you to express your creativity, and express yourself. So without creativity, where will our artists go? If you cant express yourself, then who are you? You are forced to comply, and through that, you are forced to wear a tasteless, boring uniform, which makes everyone the same, and what's so special about looking like everyone else? Nothing. So are we taking out self expression? Creativity?

Spaghetti è la migliore
By Levi Cochard
“Life is too short to be anything but happy.” When you see this quote, it makes you want to live life right? Well the same should go for food, life is too short not to try new foods, and why not try spaghetti? Spaghetti is the best food that I have ever had. Its taste is flavorful and every bite makes you feel just that much closer to Heaven than before.
The origins for spaghetti noodles are interesting. Many consider that the spaghetti noodles origin to have happened in Italy, but they are completely wrong. They actually originated in China, and a man by the name of Marco Polo brought them over to Italy during his travels. The creation of the sauce for spaghetti is quite confusing as well. Nobody really knows who made it, however the ingredients on how to make the sauce appeared in a 1797 cook book in Italy.
Did you know to cook one billion pounds of pasta; you'd need approximately 2,021,452,000 gallons of water? That's enough to fill 75,000 Olympic sized swimming pools! Pasta is also one of America's favorite foods. In 2000, approximately 1.3 million pounds of pasta was sold in America. If you lined that up, it would be able to circle the earth’s equator close to nine times! To this day, spaghetti is loved worldwide, and its history will never be forgotten-- well at least I won't forget about spaghetti's history.
